How to Make the Saltiest Water Possible

Aim

The aim of this investigation is to make the saltiest water possible.

Research

Find a website and a youtube video.

Brainstorm

  • Stir it in / shake it
  • Warm Water
  • Crush up the Salt
  • Tip lots in

Method:

  1. Filter our Salt solution to remove the solif salt.
  2. Boil off the wate rn

Equipment

  • Table Salt
  • Tap Water
  • Bunsen Burner
  • 200ml Beaker
  • Safety Glasses

 

Experiment Procedure

  1. Put on Safety Glasses.
  2. Set up Bunsen Burner.
  3. Put 100ml of water into a 200ml Beaker.
  4. Measure 40 grams of Table Salt.
  5. Tip Table Salt into Beaker.
  6. Stir with stirring rod.
  7. *Observe if any undissolved salt is left at the bottom of the beaker.
  8. Put the beaker on the Hot Plate and heat it up.
  9. Stir the beaker.
  10. *Observe if any undissolved salt is left at the bottom of the beaker.
  11. Carefully remove the beaker from the Hot Plate.

Discussion

In the experiment, the cold water had more/less salt at the bottom of the beaker.

In the experiment, the hot water had more/less salt at the bottom of the beaker.

The crystals around the top of the water are…… because the water evaporated and left the salt crystals behind.

We filtered the salt and the water through paper towels into the beaker afterwords we boiled the salt water
